- Dredging Process: The cutter suction dredger utilizes a rotating cutterhead positioned at the front end of the suction pipe. The cutterhead is equipped with sharp blades that cut through the sediment, such as sand, mud, or clay, at the river or seabed. The rotation of the cutterhead helps to loosen and agitate the sediment.
- Suction and Pumping: Once the sediment is agitated, the powerful suction force created by the dredger’s pumps draws the mixture of water and sediment into the suction pipe.
- Mud Transportation: The slurry is pumped through the mud pipe, which is typically floating on the water’s surface or secured to the dredger. The mud pipe is designed to transport the slurry to the designated location, such as a sediment accumulation site or a designated disposal area.
